Take Note.

Love is What You Want.

Went to the Tracey Emin retrospective at the Hayward on Sunday.

I can't decide exactly what I think about it, there are certain pieces of work that I love, particularly the film 'Riding for a Fall' and I obviously found it interesting enough to buy her book  - Strangeland (which I paid a tenner for but you can get on Amazon for £4).
The exhibition is certainly worth a look, even though you might feel like she's got nothing left that you haven't seen (she has). She is also one of Britain's most exciting contemporary artists and that's quite something for someone who confesses to being 'just a small town slag' during her early teens. Good to have a closer look at the patchwork quilt series and the neons and as for the rest, well it's mostly about her fanny - Quelle surprise!

Robin - do you want a biscuit?

complicit in his own demise - Robin just lent me his ipod wire to download this...

Industry Softball is back...

Not technically a 'design event' but almost - Design Industry Softball is back. Can't wait.

****UPDATE - IT'S NOW ON THE 14TH********

DRIPY BATH, YAH (anag) - Joyful Anniversary (5,8)

Times cryptic crossword enthusiast Bess is celebrating her birthday this week, so I thought it apt her card was equally as puzzling.

DESKTOPS.

Thanks to everyone who sent theirs in - they're on the next page.x

Peggy Golec.

For some reason,  it's become very fashionable of late to have tea towels,
t-shirts and other shit merchandise emblazoned with various iterations of the classic
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON POSTER. wait...let me think of one...Keep Calm and Carry a Gun?........Keep Warm and Touch My Bum? Whatever.

So anything I spy out of the corner of my eye with center justified type and one colour print I quickly think eeeek not one of those really UNFUNNY posters again - but not so.....Peggy Golec...is a photographer/designer from Norwich who I met when he snapped me embracing his girlfriend Amy, who I hadn't seen in years...(look at how pleased I am to see her - and reach for the anti wrinkle creams!).

anyway, he's designed a series of posters for The Birdcage in Norwich which I absolutely love especially for the make-you-smile copy. Absolutely can't tell you how much I love this first one especially, so simple, but so good....

See Peggy's other excellent work here...
