FUNCTION BEFORE FORM

Just went for a run in my new Asics.
Undoubtedly the ugliest shoes I have even bought. BUT they are amazing, my brother insisted I was running in unsuitable shoes and that these would be the best ones I could get.
He was right - I was flying over the puddles and speeding down the streets in Crouch End like a bullet. Well maybe.
To make up for having to buy hideous running shoes I also bought some Air Force One high tops which are absolutely crap for running -

but look the shizzle.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT.

Don't take your mum... but if you want to see mad people rolling around the floor pouring a bag of Tesco value flour over themselves, amazing and bonkers visual dj'ing and some truly incredible and moving singing performance pieces, then book up for the next one. I promise you I'll be going again and tickets are sure to sell out fast!

The compare asked me if I was in the wrong theatre - and was I a Cheryl Cole impersonator? Hmm is that an insult? Maybe.. Little did he know that I remember his from the days at Antisocial in Old Street where he was regularly going mad and often wearing a checked shirt! ha!
Also noted the use of 'your'.

Bass Notes at Kemistry

Kemistry gallery on Charlotte Road Shoreditch has got a great exhibition of Saul Bass work at the moment and wonderlandWPA shut early on Friday to go and check it out.

Story board for the shower scene in Psycho which he is rumoured to have directed!

Anatomy of a Murder - my pick of the show.
His film titles are incredibly simple - which is the beauty of all of Bass' work and why even now he is revered as one of the all time greats of graphic design. His work is very obviously the inspiration for modern day credits such as Catch me if you can...

The exhibition is on until March 17th.

Marker pen illustrations on the book route aren't mine - everything else by me.

Dollop

This is on again Friday - It was so good last week just to prove how much of a good
time I had - I lost my phone. And someone took this sneaky picture of me -
I'm looking in my handbag not head butting a wall!

This makes me really happy...

Has anyone seen my Chihuahua?

A beautiful story book written by Clare Wigfall and illustrated by the lovely Ollie Lett, who is to be wed this spring to my wonderful pal Clare.
Has anyone seen my Chihuahua? tells the story of one young girls quest to find her missing pet and each page has a brilliant illustration of the animals she meets on the way. Personally I love Ollie's city scence work but appreciate the unique character he gives to his paintings of cats and dogs, which he is probably better known for.
The book is out in August and you can reserve a copy here!
and you can see more of his work here on his website.
These are my favourite pieces;

Oh my God I'm running a race....

Some might say we're crazy some might say we're not fit enough - well let them say it. Me and my girlfriends are going to bloody beat cancer by running around Hamstead. or something.
Please give me some money and do come down to laugh at me.
Can someone bring me a Ribena?
Thanks
Jessica

my 30th

It's nearly my birthday and my mum wants to buy me a piece of jewelry to mark the occasion, some gold and diamond affair which I'm sure will be lovely, however this is what I really, REALLY want...

a collection of great things.

I bloody love this, It's been in my desktop folder of 'great things' and so unfortunately I can't give any credit to the person who designed it - but they deserve a pat on the back.
Also in my collection of brilliant reference...

JKR Design Gazette

With such an intriguing title and questions to ponder over such as; 'Can graphics make a car go faster?'
The JKR design gazette isn't your ordinary beauty parade of pack design.
I can not recommend this book enough, I've hardly put it down since it arrived on my desk last week.
A brilliant and thought provoking look at all things design and marketing, compiled from their blog and written by JKR creative director Silas Amos.
